Re: For your next random encounter...

That's not a random encounter, it's a prophecy. Once Mt Rushmore is declared an offensive unsafe space which need to be censored, the spirits of the founding fathers will possess it and end this terrible experiment of a country.

Re: So I've been on a Battletech kick lately.

Alright, two more. I'm actually especially proud of the Spatha because I sort of stumbled my way through it and it didn't come out terrible. The Dire Wolf was a mother delay with all the concave space and dozens of panels.

Re: Can anybody name a good game by Fantasy Flight Games?

In general, Fantasy Flights approach to games seems to be throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Release new games as rapidly as possible, generate hype, and maybe get an enduring classic or two every few years. Very few of their designs aren't broken out of the box. And most of their sus...

Any good game?

Chaos in the Old World is really fucking awesome. And I really dig X-Wing and Armada. I'm a huge fan of Runewars too. I actually really love a lot of their LCGs too. Especially the Warhammer and Star Wars ones.

All that being said, FFG seems like a horrible fit for L5R.

Re: Happy StarCraft Day!

So I finished the main campaign. 19 missions? I guess there was the 3 mission prologue. On the epilogue now. This campaign still feels phoned in. I mean shit, the final mission of the main campaign is a carbon copy of the final mission of the Terran campaign. It's the same damned thing.

It helps to not have kids or student debt. I'm on the fence about whether not having a mortgage or home owner responsibility is helping too.

Re: So I've been on a Battletech kick lately.

Starting next thursday, the Lance Packs they have left will be $9. If they have any left by then. I'll probably grab one each of whatever they've got. At first I wasn't interested in the Lance Packs since they are all 50% duplicates from the introductory set. HOWEVER, at 55% off, why the delay not?

Well that went well. They actually had a bunch of discontinued figures that I despite all reason desperately craved. Mostly Solaris VII gladiatorial stuff from the TRO 3055. I'm especially glad I grabbed a Spatha since I desperately wanted one as soon as I saw it in the TRO.

Got two missions in last night and I'm a little blah about it. It's the second expansion pack. I don't need several missions of extended tutorials god damnit! Especially when the prologue missions were already three levels of extended tutorials.

You know, I was so busy ignoring all the Fallout 4 hype, I forgot other games were even coming out. And I even preordered this one!

I guess I should try to play at least one level tonight.

I must be stopped. Now that I ran out of things to paint I picked up a Direwolf, Kitfox, Viper and Ice Ferret.

It also turns out the only FLGS near me with Battletech miniatures is going out of business and everything is half off...

The proper way to be evil huh?

So you then proceeded to play good cop to the rape victims, earned their trust, made sweet tender love to them, had a family, and then slowly sucked the life out of them through endless nagging and complaining, until they drank themselves to an early grave?

Re: So I've been on a Battletech kick lately.

More experiments in color blending! I tried some wet blending on the Bulldog tank on the far right. Not even remotely happy with how it turned out. Then I tried some simple layering on the other two tanks, transitioning from flat red to blood red to orange. That works out better. Watched some videos...

Re: So I've been on a Battletech kick lately.

I'm trying various experiments to get better color blending with various techniques I've read about. So far wet blending and two brush blending is out. These figures are just too damned small. Feathering works pretty good if I'm doing an entire arm or leg or the whole figure. But so far my best resu...

Re: Dunjinns and Draggins

I did really enjoy the Warhammer RPG that Fantasy Flight did, but it definitely suffered from being very combat mechanics heavy. Which is to say, it was 99.999% combat mechanics, cards for combat abilities, cards for combat locations, NPCs with combat stats exclusively, etc, etc. They let you roll u...

Re: So I've been on a Battletech kick lately.

I'm developing a deep appreciation for how unexpected and story rich a game of Battletech can turn out. Sure, the 8 million charts and tables, along with a stat sheet for each unit, makes the game a bit unwieldy. But god damned if the image of an armless mech kicking another mech, that has it SEVERE...
